Mr Cherry is a specialist eye surgeon and has now been a qualified doctor for more than 35 years. He has been recognised as a Specialist in ophthalmology by the UK's General Medical Council for more than 11 years, and has been awarded both a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
He is also a fully accredited laser eye surgeon holding the "Certification in Refractive Surgery" qualification from the prestigious Royal College of Ophthalmologists after under-going strict assessment in surgical skills and patient management. He has worked for Ultralase since 1991 performing more than 17,000 laser eye procedures.
Mr Cherry has a strong background within both the NHS and academic institutions with world-wide reputations. These include the University of Harvard in the USA, the University of Toronto in Canada and Moorfields Eye Hospital in the UK, the oldest and one of the largest centres for ophthalmic treatment, teaching and research in the world.
Mr Cherry ensures other surgeons gain the benefit of his immense experience and skill and has contributed more than 110 articles to medical journals and papers at national and international conferences including the UK Royal College of Ophthalmologists Congress and the renowned American Journal of Ophthalmology. A highly prolific and respected clinical authority, Mr Cherry's work has immensely benefitted laser patients.
There are just 54 surgeons in the UK and Ireland who have attained the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Certification in laser eye surgery. Mr Cherry is proud to be one of them. Mr Cherry has now treated at Ultralase for more than 18 years.
